The Cohoes Local Development Corporation is a
501 C 3 non-profit corporation whose mission is to focus on job
creation and retention, economic development and housing opportunities
within the City of Cohoes. The corporation is made up of five board
members, all of which are non-compensated directors.
The CLDC is responsible for administering the
Business Loan Program
primary purpose of the Business Loan Program is to foster economic
development in the City of Cohoes and focus on the expansion of local
business. The CLDC in conjunction with the Business Loan Program will
seek to further its mission through the provisions of low interest loans

Offers First Time Homebuyers Program
– The Cohoes Local development Corporation is launching a First
Time Home buyers program. The Board
of the CLDC has approved up to $60,000 of funding for this new program.
Grants of up to $5000 will be made
available to individuals that meet the HUD definition of a first time home
The target area for the program will be the lower income census tracts in the
To qualify the applicant
cannot make more that 112% of the Albany
County medium income.
A family of 3 cannot make more
than $81,984 to qualify. The goal
of the program is to encourage home ownership in the downtown areas of the city.
The program will assist with owner
occupied buildings and will allow up to two additional income apartments.
The CLDC also hopes to partner with the Albany County Rural Housing Alliance and
their program that may also be able to allow qualified applicants to also get
funding to make qualified repairs to their homes.
ACRHA also offers a First Time Buyer
course to help new buyers learn the home buying process and also guide people
that may need to repair their credit ratings in order to qualify.
The new home owner must stay in the
property for 10 years before the grant is forgiven.
The CLDC program can be used toward a down payment or closing costs.
The applicant will have to have an
approved mortgage loan to get the assistance.
